This rubric is used to verify specific tasks performed when constructing a line graph. If the task has been completed accurately all points are awarded. Reduced points for each task may be awarded if necessary. No points are awarded if the task is not complete.

Variables 10 points	The independent variable is drawn on the X axis.	5
	The dependent variable is drawn on the Y axis.	5
Plot Area 10 points	The plot area of the graph covers most of the printed page.	5
	The plot area is printed with a white background. (White is not Excel's default color.)	5
Axis Identification 6 points	Major grid lines for both the X and Y axis are shown. (Excel does not do this automatically.)	2
	Grid lines on each axis have the appropriate data numbers.	2
	Each axis is labeled, including the measurement units for each variable.	2
Graph Data 12 points	Each data point is indicated with an appropriate "marker". (not needed on honors, when using best fit line)	2
	The "value" of the dependent variable is shown at each data point. (These numbers must not clutter the graph.)  (Honors insert best fit line instead)	2
	Data line or lines are appropriate in width and color. (Most graphs should be drawn as "smoothed line".)	2
	If more than one data line is drawn on a single graph, a "legend" is provided to identify the lines. (This is only done if there is more than one line on a graph.) (These 4 points are automatic for single-line graphs.)	4
Graph Title 4 points	A descriptive title is printed on the top of the graph paper. (Title should describe what is found on this graph: usually more then two words)	4
Personal Information 4 points	Student name, date, class period and assignment title are included. (Usually found  in the upper left or right corner of the paper)	4

Self-evaluation	Students are expected to honestly evaluate their own work. If the difference between the student evaluation and the teacher evaluation is more than 10 points, 5 points will be deducted from the teacher's score when the grade is recorded.
